About the County Attorney
What does the Lewis & Clark County Attorney do?
The County Attorney is an elected non-partisan official who manages a team of approximately 30 people, and serves as a leader in the community. The office is responsible for:
Prosecuting criminal offenses committed within the county
Providing legal advice for the county’s officials and agencies
Handling juvenile proceedings and child abuse and neglect cases
Handling involuntary commitments, including those for the mentally ill
Administrator of estates for people who pass away without heirs or are incapacitated
Partnering with law enforcement agencies, county commissioners, the courts, and other community leaders in various sectors
Lewis & Clark County has not had a County Attorney race in over two decades. The general election is November 8th, 2022.
